Condition: Good. Page edges somewhat grayed. This is marked down from Very Good because pages 9 through 18, all in the Introduction, have many yellow highlights from an earlier owner. The highlights are pretty well faded and don't interfer with reading, but nevertheless, they are there.

Contents: From the back cover:

Lively and accurate, this new translation of fifteen cuneiform tablets is the first in contemporary English and written especially for the reader without linguistic or scholarly background. The tablets, in a previously unknown dialect and found at Ugarit, an accidentally discovered ancient Canaanite city, tell of Aqhat. The Healers, Kirta, and Ball -- the four major oral myths eventually written down by a scribe and found in the library of the chief priest of Ball in Ugarit's main temple. They introduce the reader to the Canaanites (ca. 1600 B.C.) and their world and the world of ancient Israel as well, since the Biblical traditions we know reflect a Canaanite background and were profoundly shaped by it.
