Contents: Richard Helms spent 30 years in the shadowy world of espionage. He served as Director of Central Intelligence from June 30, 1966 to February 2, 1973. The book covers his career and provides insight into numerous stories that made the headlines during those years: the plots to kill Fidel Castro; the Cuban missel crisis; the Bay of Pigs adventure; the U-2 high-level reconnaissance program; Watergate; and many more. At the time it was published, this book was widely considered to be one of the best ever written about the CIA.
