Translated from the Spanish by Arthur Livingston. Black cloth with red lettering on cover and spine. Red border around edges of front cover.
Condition: Good Plus. Cover shows some soiling and wear; spine is scuffed, and lettering on spine is a little faded but still legible; top page edges are dark from dust and bottom page edges show a small black smudge from being shelved. Spine is cracked, but all pages are still securely attached; some pages show foxing along gutter and most pages are tanned. There is a pencil gift inscription on the first free end paper, and page 109/110 is dogearred.
Contents: Ibanez was a politically active member of the Republican party and editor of El Pueblo, an antimonarchist newspaper. In 1896, one year after the first publication of this book, he was arrested because of his political views and actions and served nearly two years hard labor. His most famous work is the WWI novel The Four Horsemen. The work offered here is among his regional genre novels, taking place in the city of Valencia. It was made into a movie in 1959.
