Young Readers Dog Stories, by Furman, A.L. (Editor). Lantern Press: New York, 1951. Edition: First edition. Hardcover, 190 pages. Illustrated by Richard Osborne. Red cloth wth gilt lettering on spine. Pictorial end papers and several line drawings illustrate the text. (Note: there are numerous Grosset and Dunlap editions to be had, however Grosset and Dunlap was a reprint house. Lantern Press appears to be the original publisher.)
Condition: Good, no jacket. Spine ends bumped; spine ends and corners worn; lettering on spine a little worn but still legible; page edges darkened; former owners name on inside front cover in ink, and as a stamp on first free end paper.
Contents: Nine heartwarming dog stories written for the young reader. All of the protagonists appear to be boys (there is something about a boy and his dog, after all!), who are obedient, even exempliary children, and they all desperately want a dog. There are the usual trials and tribulations, but in the end . . . a happy ending is had by all.
