Lines of Defense, by Siegel, Barry. Ballantine Books: New York, 2002. Edition: First edition stated, with full number line. ISBN: 0345438213. Hardcover, 312 pages. Quarter bound in black cloth over black paper-covered boards; silver lettering on spine.
Condition: Very Good in a Very Good jacket. Spine ends lightly bumped. Jacket rubbed with a little creasing at the upper margin. There is also a difficult-to-describe blemish right above the "O" in the title, where the spot varnish applied over the title has chipped off. This is mainly perceptable when the book is held at an angle.
Contents: From the jacket
Doug Bard has been a detective with the sheriff's department in La Graciosa, California, long enough to know the score. Now that an influx of upscale chain stores and luxury housing has turned sleepy Chumash County into a boom town, the lat thing anyone wants is crime casting as shadow over the prosperity. But Bard also knows he's not the kind of man who can write off a double fatality as a tragic accident -- especially when all his instincts tell him it was murder.
