America's Wonderful Little Hotels and Inns, Second Edition, by Crossette, Barbara (Editor). Congdon & Lattes; New York, 1980. Edition: Second Edition. Hardcover, 441,[25] pages. Gray textured paper over boards; title in green ink on spine. Book bears no ISBN number, and is possibly a Book Club Edition. Includes eleven unnumbered pages of black and white maps, drawn by Donal Pitcher. Other black and white illustrations drawn by Ron Couture.
Condition: Very Good, no jacket. Spine ends and corners show a little bumping. All pages clean and secure.
Contents: Arranged by state, and further by city within each state, the book offers recommendations by travelers themselves of inns across the United States. The recommendations are very personal and read as if your sister or best friend had sent you a letter while on a road trip. The book does not attempt to rank or grade the inns, but just to present recommendations from a multitude of travelers. In fact, the final pages of the book consist of blank forms, and the editor suggests that readersfill them out and send them in with further opinions and recommendations. In addition to the narrative, each entry includes specifics (which are probably all out of date now) as to dates of operation, credit cards taken, room rates, and the like.
