Contents: The book opens with an introduction that covers understanding cults: defining them; giving their doctrinal characteristics (new revelation, denial of the sole authority of the bible, a distorted view of God and Jesus, and denial of salvation by grace), their sociological characteristics (authoritarianism, exclusivism, dogmatism, close-mindedness, susceptibility, isolationism, and antagonism); and their moral characteristics (legalism, sexual perversion, physical abuse, and intolerance towards others). The introduction then goes on to reveal their methodology (moral deception and aggressive proselytizing) and to offer reasons for their growth (doctrinal failure, an increase in relativism, a mystical turn toward the East, and emphasis on Self, a stress on feelings, moral rebellion, and the social breakdown of families. The introduction finishes with a description of what makes cults spiritually, psychologically, and physically dangerous and finally, the challenge and opportunity offered to Christians who arm themselves with the knowledge to counter the "scripture twisting" of cults.

The balance of the book goes thorugh the Bible book by book and verse by verse, spelling out the types of questions raised by cultists based on specific verses. The author explains the misinterpretation and provides information to correct it.
