Black Dialogues: Topics in Afro-American History, by Ducas, George [Editor]. Encyclopaedia Britannica Educational Corporation: n.p., 1969. Edition: First edition. Hardcover, 8vo, 7.5 by 9.25 inches, 502 pages. Black cloth with white lettering on cover and spine. Illustrated with 489 black and white photographs and drawings. Includes Index of Readings, Index of Illustrations; and Index of Authors.
Condition: Good Plus, no jacket. Some bumping and wear to spine ends and corners and a small ding on the cover fore edge. Primary reason for the low grading is that the first free end paper has been removed, and the copyright page has the words ""Dummy Copy" lettered in the margin in blue. There is no evidence that this is an ex-library copy.
Contents: Anyone interested in the great Black thinkers of America should own this book. It includes 175 articles that cover the African-American experience from colonization through the 1960's. Among the writers are: Frederick Doublass, W.E.B. Du Bois, Stanley M. Elkins, Langston Hughes, Jesse Jackson, Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcom X, and Booker T. Washington among many others. The articles are brief, usually two or three pages, and include excerpts from speeches,, writings, and even the songs that formed part of the history and culture of Blacks in America.
