Condition: Very Good. Book has been read. The cover corners are a bit bent, the spine has reading creases, and the pages are beginning to tan, but the book is otherwise clean, unmarked, and secure in binding.

Contents: Publisher's Note:

Coe's classic inside story of one of the major intellectual breakthroughs of our time--the last decoding of an ancient script--has been updated to reflect the fast-changing advancements in decipherment. 112 illustrations.

I have to admit that I, personally, added to the reading creases on this book. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in language, linguistics, or the life and culture of the Maya people. It gives the history of research and discovery of the Mayan language as written in the stone and pottery (and very few books) that survived the Spanish purges.
