Contents: Books that reveal training methods for the American Saddlebred are few and far between. Farshler's book is one of the few available, which no doubt explains the number of times it has been reprinted. This is an early edition, being the second printing (1946) of the first edition, copyrighted in 1945.

The contents include chapters on Elementary and Higher Equitation, Colt Training, Training Under Saddle (including a section on the gaited horse and the Walking horse) Stable Management, Breeding, Feet and Shoeing, Vices and Their Remedies, Selecting a Horse and Building a Stable.

American Saddlebreds have been used for most of the illustrations, and among the identified horses are: King Christian, Jean Cameo, Gleam of Genius, Spotlight Dillon P.H.A., Ensign Kirby, Oakhill Chief, and Beau Genius.
