The Hunt for Red October, by Clancy, Tom. Naval Institute Press: Annapolis, Maryland, 1984. Edition: Later printing (14th). ISBN: 0870212850. Hardcover, 8vo, 387 pages. Red cloth with silver lettering on spine. Gray end papers.
Condition: Good Plus in a Good Jacket. Lower spine end bumped and worn; corners worn; former owner's name in felt-tip marker on first free end paper. Jacket chipped at spine ends and corners with several closed tears, the longest of which is a two-inch closed tear at the upper right corner; 1-inch clear tape reinforcement on inside of jacket at lower spine; lower corner of back flap clipped in a pinking sheers pattern which does not affect the text. Interior pages are clean, unmarked, and secure in binding.
Contents: Tom Clancy's first, and arguably his best novel, this cold war classic is as good a re-read as it is a first read. Although this is the fourteenth printing, it is still a first edition, published by the Naval Institute, and the quality of the binding and paper is high. Reading this book in the format in which it was originally published is truly a pleasure.
